Hey everyone!
The base of Mt. Teide

It's been a pretty good week, had some fun. As always, I'll start where I left off. So last p-day, we played futbol. That was fun for the first 30 minutes, then I messed my ankle or something and could barely walk. So after that, it was just kinda irritating. I was limping for a couple days, but it's good now, just a small bruise.

The next big thing was that we did intercambios with the zone leaders. That was good. We went to their island for that. Due to the timing for our flights it ended up being a super short intercambio, but it was fun, and I learned a bunch.
Another thing that happened was that our water heater broke. We thought at first that we just ran out of gas, so we ordered some more, but still no hot water. So we had to get our landlord to come check it out. He said he would send a mechanic over, but it was the weekend so we had to wait. Still waiting in fact....it’s all good, though. Just gotta take a really fast shower.

We also had a family history activity this last Saturday that was super good. It was taught be a recent convert named Carlos, so that was cool. He did a super great job, but we weren't really worried about him. He's a retired engineer, was in the top ten for his graduating class at Georgia tech, was a speech writer for the president of Venezuela, and speaks about 4 languages. You know, just the average guy.

Last night was pretty rocking; we made some cookies to bring to church, and we had a bunch of extra, so we watched the restoration at the end of the day while laying in our beds and eating milk and cookies. It was pretty chill.

So for this pday, we went up to Teide, the mountain on this island. We didn't go all the way up, just to the valley at it's base. We took a bunch of photos, had some fun. It was awesome. I'll make sure to send some photos. 2 districts went up, and we had a less active member drive us. On the way down, we pulled off to the side of the road to share a message. There are 8 points in the restoration and there were 8 missionaries so we each taught a point and then we bore our testimonies at the end. I was a little apprehensive about the idea, and it working out, but it ended up being super cool. The point that I shared ended up being the restoration itself. Just like every other time I teach it, it was a very special experience. The message of the restoration is something that is so special that it really can't be put into words. I want to bear my testimony that I know that it's true; that around 200 years ago God and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to a young boy in a grove of trees. Through that boy, they restored the true church to the earth. I know it's true, and that's why I'm here.

I love you all. ‘Til next week,

- Elder Bassett
