General Conference!

Hey GUYS!

We are having a more relaxed pday today, just chilling in bed right now writing while Elder Johnson tries to figure out how he is going to survive in the game of chess we are playing. Ha, not really. It’s actually a really close game....nevermind. I just won, ha. It's only fair, though; he won last time. My ankle is doing fine now; doesn't really hurt me anymore. So onto the week!

Things have been going well here on the island. We had a dinner with a family in Puerto. Their names are Viktor and Heide, and they are the nicest people. The only hard part is that they are both German. Viktor speaks Spanish, but not very well, and his wife, Heide, doesn't speak at all. They are super great though. Afterwards, we shared a message about the restoration and Viktor translated the best he could for his wife. It was very simple, but also very powerful.

So, we also were finally able to pass by this less active member that we have been trying to pass by for a while, so that was nice. The only downside was that he lives on the side of a mountain, so it's hard to get up there. The street we took to get up there is as steep as, or more than, the streets in San Francisco for any that have passed by there. Needless to say, we were sweating quite a bit by the time we got there. Ha, it went well, though. We were able to share a message, and he was receptive.

Another big thing that we have been doing is the prep to get ready for zone conference tomorrow. We are all super excited, because this is going to be a big one. Tomorrow, we will be receiving the training necessary to begin online proselyting and begin to use tools such as Facebook, messenger, Skype, and whatsapp. I'm pretty excited to see how much the work is progressing. At this point, we are all mostly excited to use whatsapp. Since it's free, almost everyone here in Spain has it. Having it is going to help us stay in communication with everyone so much better, super pumped! Now onto what I really think was the best part of the week......Conference!!!
Getting pumped for General Conference!

It was such an awesome experience. This time, we got to watch all of the sessions. There were so many awesome talks that really seemed to speak right to me; I'm sure that many of you guys had the same experience. The bishopric was super nice and set up conference for us in another room, so that we could watch it in English. That was really nice of them. It was a very special conference for me, and I really was able to feel the Spirit. I was sad to hear about Elder Hales, but my prayers go out to his family. I can't help but acknowledge that I am sure that he is being welcomed with joyful arms.  I loved Elder Andersen’s talk and the final words of Elder Hales. I also loved Elder Halstrom’s talk; there is a member in Móstoles that has cancer that gave a very similar talk while I was there. She talked about faith and miracles; it was super cool.

So, I think I'm going to be talking about conference talks for a while in my letters, but for today I just wanted to focus on one that really helped me personally. That talk was the one that was given by ElderHolland during the very first session of conference. There were so many things that he said that I thought were really special. I love especially how he related our perfection to the parable of the debts and the talents. It was something that really hit me, and I thought was really special. It's important to remember that Jesus and Heavenly Father love us. Yes they set high expectations for us, but they also acknowledge our weaknesses and want to help us so much. They are never angry or upset when we falter, only even more loving. I know I'm not perfect, but I'm going to do my best to give my 100% level of perfection. I love you all, and invite anyone who hasn't watched conference to do so as soon as they can! Until next time!

Sometimes when you're walking on the streets of an island off the coast of Africa and you see a California ice cream truck drives by, you just have to take advantage of the opportunity.

I burned this scripture into my wallet. Look it up and see if you approve.
